An Unknown Petzval lens

This lens was bought at a Flea market in late Summer 2012 and looked to be
in very poor condition, it was sold as a projection Petzval.

As can be seen the glass appears to be in very poor condition and there had been spiders
and other insects living inside the lens.

At first glance the lens appeared to have a very large lens hood but in fact this is part of its fitting to a Magic lantern projector.

A quick clean indicated that in fact the optics of the lens were undamaged and
in remarkably good condition despite first appearances.
