In a short period, the Korea Racing Authority has taken on numerous challenges, breaking free from its narrow confines and raising the banner of internationalization and advancement, including overseas expedition projects for Korean racehorses, Korea-Japan racehorse exchange events, the implementation of the Asia Challenge Cup, and participation in the Singapore Korea Cup international race.However, it is assessed that so far it has not shown achievements worthy of claiming a qualitative improvement in Korean racehorses. Although it won the Korea-Japan racehorse exchange away victory three years ago and also won this year’s Asia Challenge Cup, there is concern about how other racing authorities will evaluate it.

In advanced horse industry countries, media related to the horse industry are deeply loved by the public. I expect that racing media will soon stand at the center of that role in our country as well.The Korean Horse Trainers Association also recognizes the importance of horse training and will continue to make every effort to integrate advanced training techniques used in riding horses and racehorses. The Korea Racing Authority recently officially requested the National Tax Service to issue an official interpretation regarding the introduction of a “book rental reservation system.” This is to make it more convenient for horse racing fans to purchase betting tickets in advance for races scheduled on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, when the races are not held on Thursdays.The problematic part was the tax section. A 2,000 won admission fee is charged upon entering the racetrack and off-track betting locations. Among them are a 1,300 won individual consumption tax and a 300 won education tax, so as a horse racing fan, I pay a 1,300 won tax.The Korea Racing Authority requested the National Tax Service to issue an official interpretation on whether admission fees should be charged even when actual horse racing does not take place and people simply visit racecourses and off-track betting centers to purchase betting tickets.
